Emily + Yosef // Chicago, Ovation Wedding

Emily and Yosef were married on August third. They got ready at the Robey Chicago, and had a reception at Ovation Chicago.

Because Emily and Yosef both live in China and had to plan their wedding from the other side of the world, they really wanted their wedding to have a strong emphasis on their friends and family. They were sure it was one of the last times they’d be able to have everyone in one place before they went back to China, so they felt it was most important to be present for those that mattered most. That focus leant a warmth and love to the whole day that honestly made it impossible not to smile watching them with their loved ones.

We did our best to capture that feeling in our photography, too. You can genuinely feel the love they have for one another just being around them, and we feel that we were able to recreate that essence in these images. They really do have something special.

Even though Emily and Yosef live on the other side of the world, they have a deep connection to Chicago. They told us “we would really like to capture the essence of the city of Chicago in our group photos and portraits. This is our home that we love and miss.” We wanted to make sure that we captured that truly Chicago feeling in their wedding photography. Watching them while we took photographs with their wedding party at Lincoln Park’s Nature Walk and at Kinzie St. Bridge, was just super awesome. They were clearly having so much fun!

Also, the sunlight on their wedding day was just unreal! They really lucked out with perfect summer skies—which we were sure to take advantage of by grabbing the two of them for some photos together before the reception outside of their venue, Ovation.
