As wedding photographers, probably the best part of our job is the people. That was absolutely the case for Bekah and Gilad’s wedding at the Fisher Island Club in Miami. For this special event back in February of 2017, it was even more special, because we had a connection with the bride.
See… Bekah, the bride, and Ben, the owner of This Is Feeling Photography, met WAY back in 2008 on a study abroad in London. They became friends, and right from the start, Bekah always told Ben that he was the one to photograph her wedding… whenever she found the right man. 😉
FINALLY, 8 years later, Ben got the call from Bekah. She had met the amazing Gilad, and they set a date in Miami, Florida for the wedding. One significant decision Bekah made early in their relationship was to convert to Judaism so that she could join Gilad in practicing the Jewish faith. So, that’s how we found ourselves traveling from Chicago to Miami to capture this gorgeous Jewish wedding. Special thanks to Mark from Mark Trela Photography for making the trip to second shoot with us!
Bekah and Gilad’s Miami Wedding
What we absolutely loved about photographing this wedding was seeing the interpersonal relationships come to life. Mainly, Bekah’s relationship with her sister and parents; her love for her fur-child, Banana; and Gilad’s beautiful relationship with his parents. You can really see this come to life in their wedding day photography. We’re suckers for parents who proudly wear the love for their children on their sleeves, and you can absolutely see that with Gilad’s parents. Look at the family portraits and you’ll see the love just emanating from them!
Of course, we even made sure to capture a few special moments before the wedding with Bekah and Banana. Because, pets are family, too! Banana even walked the rings down the aisle.
Aside from the amazing, deep connections we were able to capture between the bride and groom with their loved ones, there was also a ton of energy in this wedding! Bekah is a dancer and she used to be a cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins, so dancing is deep in her blood. So much so, that she actually got Gilad to do a choreographed dance with her during the reception. They took lessons at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio and it paid off. They wowed everyone with their dance!
Since we specialize in Chicago wedding photography, we don’t travel too often for destination weddings. But when we do, it’s because a couple absolutely is in love with our style and really values what we do as fine-art documentary wedding photographers. And, when someone loves what we do that much, we’re happy to take a weekend off to get to their destination wedding.
Bekah and Gilad, it was such an honor to be a part of your wedding day. We love capturing love, and it’s so clear that you have it in all aspects of your lives. Congratulations!
